RICHMOND

Glasgow based Richmond consists of one member, John Richmond on drums, guitars and vocals.

"The Day off" is his debut album featuring a classic blend of acoustic, piano and rawkous rock songs in a distinctive style. Packed with unique and original melodies, thought provoking lyrics and a Lou Reed ish mood this album is one that will stand the test of time and is a must for all modern record collections. The album is officially released on 12 Oct 2009.

Tell us about The Richmond history to date ?

I have always played the guitar for as long as I can remember, mostly out of tune.

Who are your main influences ?


My main influence is Kurt Cobain.

What modern bands do you like ?

I like bands with a good melody, especially Franz Ferdinand and the Foo Fighters.

Who would you like to record with dead or alive ?

It would have to be Moist Vagina with Kurt.

Where does your song inpiration come from ?

I am always writing down observations and peoples comments to each other, most of my stuff comes from the local streets.

What's your fave songs of all time ?

No woman no Cry (live) by Bob Marley

Tell us what to espect from yuor debut album " The day off ".

Rock mixed with some acoustic melodies, it sounds nothing like any other bands out there.


Where do you see yourself in 5 years ?

In 5 years I want to be on stage at T in the park.

What genre do you think your music fits into ?

Rock, pure and simple.

Where was your album recorded ?

I do all my recording in a small studio in the west end of Glasgow, I produce all my stuff.

What's your favourite recipe ?


Deep fried Mars Bar.
