RAINPOPS

Rainpops are a young new Indie rock/pop band from Senigallia, a small seaside town in Italy. They produce gigantic, warm, uplifting and powerful Indie pop songs that take us back to the good old days of proper brit pop. Rainpops combine a classic 60's sound with Wonderstuff, Teenage Fanclub, Dodgy, Blur esq moments.

These 4 “likely lads” blast out a bright and breezy Indie pop sound that takes a lot from British pop and rock. Their sound is retro but with a modern feel ala Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis and The Enemy on holiday with The Kaiser Chiefs. The band recently supported Indie legends "The Others" while in Italy and are set to share the stage with them again later in the year so watch this space.

Their debut single “Too pretty to love” will be out on March 31 2008 through Matchbox Recordings. It is a stunning and massive pop gem with a catchy chorus that makes the listener feel happy while  bopping along to the high-voltage scuzzy guitars , harsh Klaxons esq bassline and classic organ.  

THE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW 

1. What made you decide to form Rainpops tell us a bit about your history to
date ?

Well, we all came from different bands except Andy and Mauri who already played together. Rainpops’ life started when Andry bumped into Andy in a club last summer and asked him to form a band. He accepted and this is the beginning of Rainpops. The most important thing is the common love for brit-pop shared between us.

2. Who or what are your influences ?

Everyday life!

3. What modern artists do you like?

Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, The Fratellis, The Enemy, Klaxons (rave it up mate! :P)

4. Where did the band name come from  ?

We never answer this question, it’s a boring and insignificant story..

5. What inspires you to write your music/lyrics ?


Everyday life again! J

6. Name your all time fave track by another band/artist ?

We think this is a very personal question, so everyone of us is going to answer separately

Andry: “Wonderwall” - Oasis
Andy: “Charmless man” – Blur

Mauri: “Paranoid android” – Radiohead

 
7.  What sort of sound can we expect from your forthcoming single ?

  Ehmmmmm… we always try to make catchy songs with an energetic sound as well. This is what comes natural to us, but it’s our aim at the same time!

8. What are your ambitions for your music. Where do you see yourself in 5 Years ?

“ I wanna be adored!”

 9. How would you describe your music and what genre do you think it fits into ?

well…it’s  quite difficult to answer this question ‘coz our writing process, as we said before, is very very natural and spontaneous.

Anyway, NME describes us: ” They offer a poptastic blend of infectious indie-pop you simply can’t refuse!”

10.  Where was your new single recorded and who was producing ?

  We recorded “ Too pretty to love” at E.M. Pro Studios in  Senigallia, Italy.

It’s self-produced! Yeah!


11. What's the music scene like in Italy ? Inyour opinion, do you think it
makes it easier or harder to make it as a band coming from over there  ?

  Italian music scene is very very crappy! Above all for indie bands. It’s not casual we soon looked abroad to get a record deal and to spread our music as well. Considering this , we are happy because we have just signed for an english label!

12. Who are the members of Rainpops and what do they play ?

Andrea Maraschi (Andry): vocals – guitar

13. In the U.K music and food has combined with celebrity rock and pop stars now appearing and cooking on TV food shows. Is it like this in Italy ? We love Italian food....Please can you give us your favourite Italian recipe ?

  For what it concerns italian music scene … we are sad to repeat ourselves but we have to say again: “italian music is shit!”

Well, our mums are exceptional chefs and we know all the best recipes as well, but we are going to tell u them once we will be appearing in one of those english Tv food shows you talked about.
