THE
FIREFLOWERS
Appearing
next we have the wonderful new band THE FIREFLOWERS. This top Manchester
based dark rock outfit license the Indie rocker " Leave Me Cold".
This great alternative bopper reminds us slightly of the Psychedelic Furs
crossed with REM at a séance. The drums are powerful and rock n' roll, the
vocals deliver a strong melody with direct emotion and the guitars riff and
feedback in a screeching manner. The Flowers are not your average band but a
band with a real message about love, Hate, Sex, Death, murder an chaos ( A good
night out for me then - ed ). Superb.
Appearing
next we have the powerful alternative rock band NOXIRE who hail from
Slovenia. They license the energetic, sonic power rock track " Last
Words". " All the time I feel the fire, all around in my
soul" sings Marcel the lead singer. The guitars screech in Sugar/Pumpkins
style while the bass and drums speed like the Foo Fighters crossed with Black
Sabbath. This is pure catchy heavy sonic rock done in style with a mainstream
twist. Noxire have already been featured on national TV on the "Pomp"
music show and were 2nd place on the USGIGTV video contest. Excellent. The full
line up is: Marcel ( Bass/Vocals), Robert ( Guitar ) and
Drash ( drums
).
The
very young, wonderful and melodic band IDLECRASH ( above ) appear next with the lovely
heartfelt Indie ballad " Palace". This great song starts off
with a dreamy lead guitar and flows into very melodic vocals that send shivers
down your spine. The wonderful sing-a-long chorus then enters the picture
showing the Idle's have very good pop sensibilities and know how to write a
catchy tune. The music is melodic, mellow and catchy but there is also a melancholy
mood underneath it all. Idlecrash show a sensitive side not heard
since bands like Embrace and Gene were highly rated. Traditional proper songs
done in an Indie rock fashion worthy of a lot of praise. Excellent.
Exceptional
singer/songwriter DANNY STEVENS ( above ) appears next with the acoustic lo-fi
love ballad " One in Ten". Danny has played in many bands
including support slots with Brian May and Mark Shaw. He has recently gone solo
and the results are very melodic and beautiful. This lovely stripped down song
is melancholy, thoughtful and catchy at the same time. " I don't care
about money or the way we exist " sings Danny with heartfelt emotion.
The wonderful harmonica brings a warm folky feel. The vocals are smooth and
like Bob Dylan crossed with Billy Corgan while on holiday with Ryan Adams.
Thoughtful, poetic proper songwriting from an artist with a bright
future.
Tony
Anton from Heart and Stone in action above
The
epic, classic and powerful HEART AND STONE from Canada appear next with
the classic rock ballad anthem " Love IV Rock n' Roll". The
band was formed back in 1998 by lead singer/songwriter Tony Anton. They
recorded the excellent album " Eternity" and received radioplay all
over Canada with the video for " Ocean Blue" doing the rounds on Much
Music. This was followed by the classic album " Legacy of Stone" that
sold 20.000 units as an Independent release but didn't manage to get the band a
major record deal ( some major artists can't sell 20.000 these days so be very
proud guys - ed ). Due to the pressure of this the band split but this didn't
stop lead singer Tony Anton from carrying on and staying committed to his
vision and sound. With an all new HEART AND STONE assembled the album
" Love for Rock n' Roll" was recorded and that is how we end up
in the present day. This great track " Love IV Rock n' Roll" starts
off with majestic acoustic guitars and dreamy organs and leads into the smooth,
melodic and very powerful vocals. Building slowly this classic track tells a
story of the love of Rock n' Roll, hope and survival of your dreams . This
epic and spiritual track sounds like Jethro Tull having tea with Led Zepp
and Pink Floyd while on holiday with a very mellow Darkness. Retro and classic
yes, but that's how it should be. The problem with the modern music industry is
that bands are so intent on being the next big up to date thing they forget
about proper songs and sentiment. Excellent. Check

Great
new melodic rock band THE FRONT appear next with the mellow, tuneful,
classic ballad " Backdated". Expect dreamy bluesy guitar
licks and melodic heartfelt vocals. This London based band remind us slightly
of Microdisney crossed with Stereophonics but more classic. The main power
behind The Front is their songwriting abilities. This combined with a polished
retro sound , classy drums and bass, lovely backing vocals and great guitar
work makes them a band worthy of a lot of praise. There are even some delicious
ba da ba ba's in here that make the listener melt....lovely. They have
recently gone into the studio with Nigel Gray, producer of The Police and three
times grammy award winner. He's taken them on board to develop and to do two
singles in the new year . The Front are pioneers of proper modern rock songs
that grow on you with each play and stick in your head like glue. "
backdated" is the perfect song to listen to while relaxing in a
jacuzzi with champagne and cocktails. Classy, catchy and melodic rock that
sticks. The full line up is: Ben Russell ( Vocals ), Jimmi James
( Bass ), Glen Buck ( Drums ) and Simon James ( Guitar ).
Strolling
in gently next with impeccable style, charisma and coolness we have the
fabulous GODFATHER. Godfather is the brainchild of guitarist,
songwriter and recording engineer Tom Bainbridge. He wrote the first batch of
Godfather tunes in mid 2002 and the rest will be history. The full line up
consists of: Real Deal ( Guitars/Vocals), Tiny Monkey ( Backing
Vocals ), Jellyroll ( keyboards ), Bassman ( bass ) and Colonel
on drums. ( Are those really their real names ? - Ed ). Godfather combine lo-fi
funky 70's esq beats, funky trumpets and jazzy casino organ sounds with groovy
guitar hooks to create a Fun Loving Criminals-esq jazzy masterpiece called "
Saturday Morning Special". This is the song that is playing in the
background while a gang of highly trained , sophisticated jewel thieves break
into a high security government building and steal a diamond worth 10 million
pounds without setting off the alarm. Yes the Fathers ooze style and
sophistication and deliver it in a Pulp Fiction-esq 70's fashion. Individually
the band members have played with stars from Archie Shepp to Ronan Keating, and
at venues from Wembley Arena to Sound Republic. Lovely backing "Da Da Doo
doo doo" backing vocals too. Sexy, hot, dark, groovy and you must wear a
suit when listening to this....OK....or we will make you an offer you
can't refuse. Their fantastic and moody album " The Money Shot" can
be obtained by visiting their cool
site. and you can watch footage of the band live and catch up on hot
Godfather gossip.
WARPED
Bursting
in next and raising the tempo we have hot Cheshire based Indie rock band WARPED.
They license the Indie bopper " Even Angels Fall". This great
track contains Manics-esq guitar riffs, Black Sabbath-esq drum stabs and
powerful vocals that stick in your head. You can also hear some very cool
bluesy honky tonk piano in the background. The full line up consists of
songwriter Lee Wylding ( Vocals, Guitars ), Jo Lawrence (
Keyboards, synths ), Johnny ( Bass, backing vox ) and Richie Jones on
Drums and percussion. " I just don't ever want to leave ya"
sings Lee with emotion and rock n' roll passion. The band recently reached
number 1 on the Vitaminic USA website. This is powerful retro rock n' roll
music with a modern twist. Excellent and timeless. Check
out their official site
The
Fallacy's Richard Webber
Top
new dark rock n' roll Indie band THE FALLACY appear next with the
leftfield Jesus and Mary Chain/Ramones-esq stomper " Rock n' Roll
band". The Fallacy were formed by Camden based singer/songwriter Richard
Webber. This top Indie tune comes with built in distorted sleazy jangly
guitars, lo-fi drum beats and a sing-a-long vocals that get into your head and
never leave. The band have been getting rave reviews from sites like Sound
Shed and Planet Sound and are set to hit the live circuit with an explosion.
Anthemic, dirty, sleazy, rocktastic, leftfield sing-a-long anthems for the
young and exciting. Check
out their site by clicking here now.
Ending
this great new music album in style we have the melodic leftfield Indie noise
merchants NAKED TWISTER. They hail from Chelmsford and are a 3 piece consisting
of: Paul ( vocals, lyrics and self destruction ), The Rod ( Bass
and alcohol abuse ) and Gregory ( drums and superpowers ). This
leftfield dark pop band deliver grungey guitars, crashing drums and smooth
Billy Corgan-esq vocals that erupt into chaos. This great alternative track "
The Art of Falling Apart" is moody, unpredictable, dirty, noisy and
full of self destruction and angst. Perfect then. They go from punk to grunge
to pop sensibilities with ease showing diversity and a strong musical vision.
They were recently rated very highly by Online TV. The perfect
alternative ending to the perfect album. Hooray. Check
out Naked Twister's website.
